Kurdistan Parliament after 6-11-2
Dr. Yousef Mohammed
An election, as a contract between the voter and the elector, is conditioned by the time allotted for it and by the promises the elector has made to the elector to act to fulfill them during that time. Therefore, after the expiration of the legal term of the councils and elected posts, they lose their legitimacy and their extension is illegitimate and against the established principles of democracy. We have already mentioned this in an article and it does not need to be repeated([1]).
In our opinion, the appropriate and correct position with the situation of the Kurdistan Parliament after the expiration of its legal term at the end of 5-11-22, is to resign from the membership and withdraw from it, regardless of who fills the seat. Unfortunately, the Kurdistan Parliament has become a subordinate institution and they can collect it whenever they want and pass whatever they want with their fake majority. There are many reasons for this that we do not have time to discuss now.
It is time for all the genuine reformist forces and personalities in the region to create a complete separation from the current regime and no longer allow themselves to be treated as the combatants of a play directed by the ruling families in the region. We must all insist that the current corrupt regime can no longer be discriminated against and that legitimacy can be restored to the institutions of the region only through fraud-free elections under international supervision and monitoring, away from armed intervention and by providing equal opportunities for all.
However, those who consider themselves as the opposition to the regime should refrain from bargaining with each other and stop creating a media war. Let each explain his position to the citizens and let the people decide the truthfulness of the different positions on this issue. What happened in the past few days in the fight between some of those who have announced that they will boycott the parliament and those who may intend to stay in it, and then drawing the health issue of Dr. Kazim Farooq’s brother into this fight.
We all wish Dr. Abdullah good health and safety. Before becoming a parliamentarian, Kazim was a skilled and loyal doctor to his patients
