Introduction:

The Mesopotamia Association for Strategic Studies (MASS) is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit civil organization. It focuses on diverse strategic political and economic issues within the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the broader Middle East. Through research, leveraging local and international expertise, workshops, and training sessions, the association proposes relevant projects and solutions for policymakers and stakeholders in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, aiming to address and resolve crises.

Goals:

  1. Conducting research and disseminating information based on statistics and scientific data, while gathering academic capacity and political expertise and exploring philosophical perspectives to understand current events.
  2. Identifying the root causes of conflicts and crises in the Middle East, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region, and expanding an information base to analyze events and link them with accurate data and viewpoints.
  3. Unifying and organizing the efforts of local researchers and scholars to establish diverse research communities.
  4. Facilitating strategic solutions through collaboration between researchers and decision-makers in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
  5. Conducting research that supports the policymaking process in political and economic institutions.
  6. Emphasizing human development and enhancing the capabilities of youth.
  7. Creating an environment of academic tolerance and reducing the intensity of societal conflict to raise scientific standards.

Work Areas:

  1. Presenting academic proposals and recommendations related to political and economic crises in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the broader area.
  2. Organizing congresses, seminars, academic meetings, and dialogues on various topics, as well as offering training and development programs to build skills and capacities.
  3. Conducting surveys and public opinion measurements on related issues to strengthen research and analysis.
  4. Providing broad opportunities for local researchers to collaborate with international researchers on joint studies.
  5. Publishing seasonal academic journals based on scientific standards and releasing research, studies, reports, and analyses in political, economic, and environmental fields, among others.
  6. Opening an academic window to global news and analytical platforms to trace the root causes of events through the organization’s perspective.
  7. Coordinating with other research institutions in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the region to offer specialized or joint courses on various topics.
